How many preaching hours are real

how much of the preaching hours in yearly report you think are real?

they always have high numbers preaching hours.

probably increase every decade.

when i was a regular pioneer ( mid 60's) i used to stop off and knock a door to start my time--knock softly and dont hang around. My time clock stopped when i got home. So that could be 8 hours--or 4 if half a day. In that time it could be playing pin ball machines in a coffee bar..or ten pin bowling. Shopping. Visiting elderly members of the congregation--usually around lunchtime.

If i needed to reach the magazine quota--i would hit the doors around 5 pm--as people were getting home from work. No long chat--sell 2 mags and away. Mag and book sales were quite profitable,-paid the petrol in my car. The only bible studies i conducted were with young unbaptised kids in the congregation--whilst their mum cooked dinner.

admittedly it 90% crap over there but still they are up to 80k in subscribers.

over here it's the same half dozen or so that posts something, including myself.

why is that?.

when i first looked at this site in 2010--i thought it was for still in jw's--so i didnt join. Only when someone i knew on a different forum told me the score that i joined.

I was really confused as to who was still in--and who was out--so i asked for a show of hands--and got really hammered for asking. Most of those rude shits have long gone.

In fact i think more have left--or died--than are active now.

I have zero interest in anything religious--couldnt care less about whats in the bible. I'm on here for the gossip and scandal.

Christmas, yes or no ?

i have just started to steep the mincemeat for my mince pies in dark rum .

christmas is a big deal in my family and circle of friends.

however among ex jws it's a bit different or so l understand.

it will be an odd one for me this year. My wife is going home for a month ( Philippines)..to see her family--not been home since 2019. I'm not going.--so no decs or xmassy stuff this year

"The Truth"

we all know that jws consider the wt religion to be "the truth" and refer to it as such.. granted, that phrase is used repeatedly in the literature and from the platform.. but it's obvious that much of what the organization used to require jws to teach house-to-house as important truths--even within our own lifetimes--has been abandoned.

it's been replaced by "new light" and "refined understanding.

what's meant by "the 1914 generation" is a prime example.. in fact, i think it would be hard to find another religion that has changed so many of its teachings, especially in such a short period of time.. so why do jws still believe their religion to be "the truth"?.

22nd july 1985.. man killed in blast.

at sydney service.. from richard yallop in melbourne.. one man was killed and 70 people were taken to hospital after a bomb exploded yesterday during a jehovah's witnesses service in a kingdom hall in the sydney suburb of lurnea.. the explosion occurred close to the speaker's dais just as mr. david winder, a visiting elder from the sydney suburb of prospect, had begun his address on loyalty to god and the family.

What decade or era in human history do you like the most or would have liked to live during?

in the us, the 60s and 70s was a great time to be alive except for getting drafted if you wanted to be that age.

they were music years, greatest movies, fun, simpler and enjoyable days—also except for the d&ugs.

Suspected Washington Kingdom Halls arsonist arrested

as many probably remember, in 2018-2020, multiple kingdom and assembly halls were set on fire in the state of washington, so fbi, atf, local sheriff and arson alarm foundation offered $61,000 in rewards for information leading to arrest of the arsonist.

the attacks (seven arsons and one shooting) included:.

march 19, 2018: two arson attacks - one at a tumwater kingdom hall and the second at a kingdom hall on cain road in olympia.
